world_of_logs | Your greatest dreams, your worst nightmares... Well, actually just nightmares! [Open/Event]

WHO: Everyone!
WHAT: Nightmare event, part 1! The moment anyone falls asleep, they will enter a dream world of nightmares... they might have their own nightmare to conquer or might be able to help others with theirs. Nightmares cannot be failed; they will simply have to find help if they cannot overcome it themselves.
WHERE: Anywhere!
WHEN: Future-dated to the 19th, overnight.
WARNINGS: Memory loss, possibly death, injuries, sadness, feels... will update this with more as necessary.

The moment anyone falls asleep, they will find themselves in a new dimension - one where they can float and fly on their own will. However, many of the dreamers will find themselves within their worst fears and nightmares... and they won't be able to wake up from them. If they happen to nearly die or lose the nightmare, it will simply freeze in time - they will be able to help others with theirs and bring others to help finish their nightmare so that they may wake up!

But even after all the nightmares are over, it still won't be over...

When Tails awoke, he saw a familiar sight - something straight out of a memory. He was flying towards the Death Egg - or in this case he supposes it was called the Black Egg - in his modified Typhoon craft, which had land, water and air travel modes. It was also fitted with weapon slots, which he used to blow a hole in the side of the Black Egg and get inside. His friends may have had to retreat because of the surprise laser attack back there, but Tails wasn't giving up now. Robotnik had gone way too far this time... wiping his best friend Sonic out of existence somehow, and completely screwing up the world in which he lived. It was payback time; even if he couldn't get his best friend back, he was going to teach Robotnik a lesson he wouldn't soon forget, if ever.

Getting inside, he weaved his way in and out of corridors leading to a hangar, where he had to park his Typhoon - the normal corridors wouldn't be large enough for the craft to fit in. Instead, he took his usual battle wrench and started down a corridor. Of course, Robotnik's security forces knew he was there - he ripped through wave after wave, alternating between wrench attacks and spindashes. He kept a fairly emotionless face through most of it; the memory of his best friend keeping him going and refusing to back down. Eventually, he made it to a rather large room - the core of the Black Egg itself. This would be where he could take out the entire battlestation in one fell swoop... but Robotnik would be here soon in some battlemech armor to stop him, like always. Even if this one had never done so before... he still didn't consider Tails a threat, and that was a mistake that was going to cost him everything.

A voice rang through the core room. "Ooooohohohohohohohoh! Welcome, fox-boy... I hope you're enjoying the hospitality my subjects are providing! It took ever so long, but you'd be surprised at the amount of time one has at their fingertips when they have the Time Stones in their possession! Ah, but where are my manners? It's the ruler's job to greet diplomats personally, and I do so hate to disappoint..." And with that, a door on the opposite side of the room opened, and a giant black mechanical suit resembling the mad doctor himself emerged. The legs and feet seemed to be completely wrapped in wires; connected to the battlestation itself. Tails knew it well: the Egg Emperor. A machine Tails has had to fight multiple times alongside Sonic. The voice rang out again:

"Here I am! The final dictator of Earth, Dr. Ivo Robotnik!"

Tails' expression changed in a snap; he looked pretty angry. "No matter how many times you remake the Death Egg, or the Egg Emperor, you're not going to win!"

"YOU INSIGNIFICANT LITTLE TWERP! All I had to do was build them once! ONCE! None of you managed to stop me, at least not in this timeline. I'm not sure why you weren't affected, but as the old saying goes, this is why pencils have erasers! And I'm more than eager to rub out the last of my chronological typos, you little mutant!"

The dream started up with Sonic waking up in what appeared to be the part of the Graveyard Dimension where Sonic had found those graves before. He gets up and takes a step back. Why was he back here? Why this horrible trick again?

He starts to leave, but then suddenly chains come out of nowhere and grab him. He tries to free himself, but it pulls him backwards. He gets slammed against a crossed-shaped gravestone, with his arms being held up as if he was getting crucified.

Sonic struggles again but a voice stops him in his tracks. "Don't bother."

His eyes widen at this. "Tails?"

Sure enough, stepping out of the shadows, appeared to be Tails himself but his eyes were glowing yellow instead of the usual blue. Sonic doesn't seem to notice this as he doesn't comment on it.

"Tails, I-"

"Shut up. You are a failure as a best friend and brother. How can I trust someone who would break my trust and can't even protect me from danger?"

"Dude, I apologized for that."

The shadow Tails glares at Sonic and smacks him across the face. Sonic tried not to flinch at the strike.

He then makes a 'Hmph' noise and crosses his arms.

"It doesn't matter. I'm not the Tails you know, remember? I don't need you. Not some loser without his speed. You and I are through."

Sonic felt a stab to his heart. Not having his speed has been a real sore spot for him but the fox's words were cutting in deep.

"I..I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."

"Just stop. You don't mean a thing to me anymore. Just go crawl under a rock and die already."

Sonic's head lowered as it was getting harder to hold back the hurt. He could feel his eyes water slightly but he fought to hold them back like he always did. He hated crying.

"I wish I never met you. I hate you."

Sonic just remains quiet at that point, not bothering to fight back as his ears drooped slightly.

The shadow Tails then takes out what appeared to be a whip and raises it to attempt to strike Sonic with it.

Kotoha's nightmare is deceptively simple - there's two of the girl, one of them smiling a too-wide smile filled with contempt. The doppleganger's eyes shine gold in the red-tinged darkness as it begins talking.

"I am a Shadow, the true self."

It was the worst thing for Fluttershy to dream about...because it was something that had already happened. Something that, to this very day, continues to haunt Fluttershy even in her waking hours.

Seeing it once again, though, trapped in memories of it, she had no choice but to live through it again...to once again be forced to watch as the events unfolded before her very eyes.

And not being strong enough to stop them.
