Your greatest dreams, your worst nightmares... Well, actually just nightmares! [Open/Event]

WHO: Everyone!
WHAT: Nightmare event, part 1! The moment anyone falls asleep, they will enter a dream world of nightmares... they might have their own nightmare to conquer or might be able to help others with theirs. Nightmares cannot be failed; they will simply have to find help if they cannot overcome it themselves.
WHERE: Anywhere!
WHEN: Future-dated to the 19th, overnight.
WARNINGS: Memory loss, possibly death, injuries, sadness, feels... will update this with more as necessary.

The moment anyone falls asleep, they will find themselves in a new dimension - one where they can float and fly on their own will. However, many of the dreamers will find themselves within their worst fears and nightmares... and they won't be able to wake up from them. If they happen to nearly die or lose the nightmare, it will simply freeze in time - they will be able to help others with theirs and bring others to help finish their nightmare so that they may wake up!

But even after all the nightmares are over, it still won't be over...

Sonic waves a gloved hand to Fluttershy.

"Yo."

She couldn't help but shrink back from him a bit, looking at him uncertainly. "I-I..."

She knew them, or at least she thought she did...but seeing them here in this particular memory was more confusing than anything, since this was way before she met them.

And the nightmare seemed too real - too much like the what had actually happened - for her to understand how they could be here.

He thought for a moment before realizing he needed to first try and convince her this was a nightmare - this was obviously something that was from before they met. If this is indeed a memory and not just a normal nightmare or something spawned from fear.

"You're having a nightmare. All of this--" he motioned to everything around them. "--isn't real. I was having one too, and so was Sonic. We got out of ours and found you."

"A-A...A-A nightmare...?"

It didn't seem possible...but then again, something like this probably would haunt her for a while.

He nodded. "Has to be. There's no other explanation for it. It's hard to describe what's going on - I'd have to show you. But first... we have to get out of here. Soon." He looked over to the fallen Hiccup. "...Since it's a nightmare and none of it is real, you don't have to worry about what's going to happen when you leave." He hoped that she'd believe him.

"B-But..." She looked back at Hiccup's still body, still lightly holding his hand. "I-I can't...I-I can't just leave h-him..."

He frowned. "I understand, Fluttershy. But... we wouldn't be able to take him out of the nightmare. If we can get out of here, it'll end." He wanted to say there was nothing they could do but... that wouldn't help matters at all. "If we stay here, someone else could come and try to hurt you. Or us, now that we're here."

She sniffled, glancing at Hiccup again. She didn't want to just leave him...not like this, but...if she stays, someone could get hurt.

Someone could get hurt...because she didn't do something about it.

With another soft sob, she finally drew her hand away, and with all the strength she could muster she began pushing herself up off the ground.

Tails stood back up, but still frowned. "I'm... I'm sorry." He looked down. "I don't know what happened, or why it happened... but I'm sorry."

"M-Mm...i-it's...it's not your fault..."

He paused. They needed to exit before he could talk to her further. "...Come on, let's get out of here and then I can explain everything, okay?" He looked over to Sonic and motioned out the way they came. "Let's go." He looked back to Fluttershy, making sure she was going to start going before he did.

She was following, a bit slowly but surely. One thing she did notice though was that her wing wasn't actually hurting, despite it still seeming broken.

Sonic nods at the motion. He was about to exit the dream first, but he stops something in the distance behind Tails and Fluttershy.

"Guys, we've got company heading this way. Let's get out of here."

Normally Sonic would stay to fight, but he could barely handle being in his human body and they didn't really stand a chance without help.

Time to go, then. "Alright, let's exit." He led the both of them out of the nightmare. The moment they'd exit, if any of them turned around they'd notice that the entrance to the nightmare was sealed up tight - it had ended. Once it was over, he turned to Fluttershy. "I wanna explain everything, but first... are you going to be okay? It seemed... was that something that actually had happened?"

As soon as they stepped out, Fluttershy's wing was healed up. She glanced back at the sealed entrance, sighing a little.

Turning to Tails, she nodded. "M...M-Mm...I'll...I-I'll be okay..."

Maybe.

"I-It...It actually was...something that happened, but...i-it was a while ago..."

Good thing Fluttershy's wing was healed up. They didn't exactly have anything to bandage it up or the time to recover. They still needed to find Neph and figure out the cause of all these nightmares.

"That really did happen? Did that killer get caught in the end?"

Sonic no.

Tails shot Sonic a look. "That's not a question we want to ask right now, Sonic." He looks back at Fluttershy. "If you do want to talk about it, that's fine. If not, that's fine as well. I understand how painful a memory like that can be."

A twinge of guilt hit Tails, though, remembering their conversation at the Center, and the nightmare that he just witnessed. And he understood what lesson she was trying to teach him there.

"H-He...He wasn't a killer..."

The response is soft, and maybe it's not the most relevant thing to talk about. But she just couldn't let them hold onto the wrong idea.

"I-It...wasn't his fault...Th-There was a virus that...had affected a lot of people in the city...i-it changed them...made them act in ways they n-never would...D-Donnie was just as much a victim of it as...any of us were..."

He shrugged at the look. He was about to correct her that, yes, that guy was a killer, but when she explained what really happened he remained quiet.

"Did you find out what caused that virus?"

As long as she was willing to talk about it, Tails wasn't going to say anything against it - shedding some light on the story of what happened was a good idea. It was worrying that she had to actually go through that, though - he hadn't seen anything quite like that in any of his experiences, as far as he remembered.

Soon, though, they were going to have to start looking for Nephenee - and Tails needed to explain to the both of them what was going on his own nightmare.

She shook her head a bit. "The Digital World is...unexpected sometimes. Glitches happened to us a lot while we were there...The virus was...one of the worst things that's ever happened, though..."

"Sounds like a dangerous place."

Now that they are out of there, they should focus on hand the situation.

"So do you guys have any idea what's going on here and what's causing these nightmares?"

"Well..." He crossed his arms and tilted his head a little. This was going to be a bit of a doozy. "I don't know what's causing the nightmares, but I do know that from a bit of research, we can't wake up. I assume that means all the nightmares have to be ended somehow before we can all get out of here. If we can find Nephenee and 'beat' her nightmare, we can go back to mine and see if we can win it.

"See, my nightmare's a memory too - the memory of the fight against Dr. Robotnik to restore the other Sonic into existence. Except this time, for some reason, the people that came with me didn't come and I had to go face him alone. Which I probably wouldn't have done under normal circumstances..." He paused. "He's aimed a laser at the Earth, similar to what he used on the ARK, but of course this Robotnik was before that so he doesn't remember. But there was a countdown going before he fired it and I had to get there to stop him before he could. He came out to face me in the Death Egg's core room, and had a bunch of rocket launchers and laser things aimed at me. Realizing I had no way out I braced for him killing me... except he didn't. I was thrust out of the nightmare with time paused before the weapons could hit me."

He looked back over at the two. "Which means I suppose nightmares can't be 'failed' - I have to bring in friends to fight with me since the ones I had before aren't in the memory for some reason. Which brings us back to you all. If we could find Nephenee, all four of us could win against Robotnik easily. It wouldn't solve what happened in the past, but it would cause my nightmare to vanish as well."

...More nightmares, huh? This seemed familiar.

With a bit of a sigh, Fluttershy glanced around.

"S-So...how do we find Nephenee...?"

"Good question. It took us a little while to find you."

It was mostly down to luck that they managed to get there when they did.

He just hoped he would still get to be himself this time. That was a close one when that last nightmare turned him human.
