world_of_logs | Your greatest dreams, your worst nightmares... Well, actually just nightmares! [Open/Event]

WHO: Everyone!
WHAT: Nightmare event, part 1! The moment anyone falls asleep, they will enter a dream world of nightmares... they might have their own nightmare to conquer or might be able to help others with theirs. Nightmares cannot be failed; they will simply have to find help if they cannot overcome it themselves.
WHERE: Anywhere!
WHEN: Future-dated to the 19th, overnight.
WARNINGS: Memory loss, possibly death, injuries, sadness, feels... will update this with more as necessary.

The moment anyone falls asleep, they will find themselves in a new dimension - one where they can float and fly on their own will. However, many of the dreamers will find themselves within their worst fears and nightmares... and they won't be able to wake up from them. If they happen to nearly die or lose the nightmare, it will simply freeze in time - they will be able to help others with theirs and bring others to help finish their nightmare so that they may wake up!

But even after all the nightmares are over, it still won't be over...

Tails was still wandering through the dream world, wondering when he'd actually figure out where the heck he is. There was no telling where he'd end up; if he'd even find Sonic at all. Until he heard a voice that sounded oddly like him.

He dashed as fast as he could towards the noise, and came to a stop right before another nightmare world. So entering and exiting nightmares was something he could do... but more importantly, Sonic was in danger. Despite their argument and the uneasiness Tails had about it, he wasn't going to let his best friend get hurt. Especially not because of a fake him.

Tails jumped through the entrance to the nightmare, and knocked over the fake Tails in anger with a punch. "Don't you dare hurt my best friend!"

The shadow gets knocked over by the real fox and nearly drops the whip, but he still smirks. "You're not going to be able to save him. Look."

The gravestone that Sonic is stuck to is glowing red now. Sonic's head was drooped. He didn't even seem to react to the real Tails there, though he does seem like he's still awake.

"Right now that gravestone is draining his life force away as he continues to despair. All because of you."

"Tails...I'm so sorry..."

Crap, what was he supposed to do? That Shadow him was going to hurt Sonic, but... he could deal with him later. It was time to try and keep Sonic from draining away. He ran back over and faced up at Sonic. He had to muster all the energy he could to try and talk. "Sonic! It's me! That other Tails is a fake! Don't listen to him!"

Sonic lifted his head slightly. His eyes were clouded over and unfocused, as if he was in a trace.

"...Tails? I...I'm sorry I couldn't protect you... and be a better best friend. You are right...not to trust me..."

Luckily the shadow Tails seemed content to watch for now.

"Sonic, it's not that I don't trust you!" Was it about what he didn't tell him? "I trust you more than I could trust anyone else! My problems were just... my problems. I didn't want to burden you with the issues that were making me how I was. I was selfish; I wanted to solve the problems on my own." And because of that nightmare... "But I know that I can't! I can't do it alone. I can't do it without you, and the others. But without you there, it wouldn't be a true team!"

Again, Sonic's eyes widen at this.

The glowing from the gravestone was starting to dim as it slowed down in draining Sonic. It appears to be working.

"Then... we're still friends?"

"Of course we're still friends!" Technically it was Sonic that started that one, but. "Look. The reason why I did what I did in the Graveyard Dimension - the recklessness, the lack of plans, putting myself in danger - it was because I didn't want to lose any of you. Especially you! I've..." He looked away. "I've lost another Sonic before. Dr. Robotnik succeeded in messing up the time stream long before the Time Eater incident and wiped the other you from existence. I rounded up a team of friends to go after Robotnik and stop him - but I was yanked away from the battle before it could finish. That Sonic... was never brought back. I blamed myself for what happened, so I swore I'd never let anything like that happen again."

He looked back at Sonic. "But Fluttershy helped me! She helped me through and told me I had to tell you - no matter what. I still couldn't, I was too afraid. I didn't want you to think you had to recklessly protect me, for my own sake. But this... this is just a nightmare! That other Tails is a fake, spawned by your nightmare. And I have my own I have to conquer... and I need your help to do it!"

Sonic's eyes clear up and become more focused as the glowing stops. A blue glow then appears and enters into Sonic's body. It appears his life force was returned.

He then smiles. "Dude, you should have just told me before. I'm sure the other me would have said you shouldn't put yourself in danger just for my sake."

The chain loosen and fall towards the ground, releasing Sonic from the gravestone. He lands on one knee, but he picks himself back up.

The shadow Tails's eyes narrow. "Curses. I'll just have to make sure you two don't leave here alive!"

Sonic finally notices the glowing yellow eyes on the fake Tails. "Oh come on. How did I not notice that before?"

The fake Tails snaps his fingers and suddenly several zombie versions of their friends from back home pop up from their graves. Even a zombie Tails and a zombie Sonic pops up as well.

Sonic smirks at this. "Yeah, not exactly original there, faker. You won't fool me with that trick anymore."

Tails was happy that things seemed to be back to normal. But of course... the Shadow Tails was going to make trouble for them either way. The question was, fight or run? They were zombies, so they probably couldn't be entirely defeated - the target was probably his shadow self.

"Let's ignore the zombies - it looks like my shadow's controlling them!" He prepared for battle, taking out his wrench. "Let's make quick work of him and help Nephenee and Fluttershy!"

Sonic nods. He rolls into a ball and charges up for a spin dash. Once he's charged up enough, he launches himself towards the fake Tails.

The fake Tails isn't quite fast enough to dodge that and gets knocked over again, this time against a tree that just happened to show up. He tries to use his whip, but Sonic forces the shadow to let it go and kicks it away.

Meanwhile the zombies start heading towards the real Tails, though as expected, they move slowly. There should be plenty of time to get around them.
