Sonic's eyes widen in shock. That was not what he was expecting.

"Eggman?!"

That made no sense. Last he saw him, he fell down from the Lost Hex after he just beat him the umpteenth time and after both Eggman betraying them once again and defeating the Deadly Six. Sure, it's possible the fall made him go into some random portal, but that seemed a little too convenient.

His eyes narrow slightly as he gets a little more serious.

"If I were you, I would keep an eye on egg head. He's not exactly somebody you should really trust. Let me guess. He hasn't told you guys about his backstory?"
